Domaine Henri Milan 'Le Grand Blanc' VDT 2009
Located in the north of the Alpilles, the geological diversity of the domaine is the area's natural asset contributing to some of Provence’s finest wines. In 1996 Henri Milan was introduced to famous French microbiologist Claude Bourguignon who recognised the true potential of the soils. Claude bought Henri round to a biodynamic way of viticulture to get the best out of the soil and therefore grapes. The resultant wine is stunning and held in high regard the world over.
Perfect as an aperitif and also with mediterranneen dishes such as grilled fish and sweet shellfish like langoustine and lobster.
Henri took over the estate previously run by his father in 1986. Right from the start he had the ambition to make the best wine with total respect for nature. Together with his colleagues Kad and Sebastien, Henri has managed to revive the soil and the wine is now expressing its gratitude. Wines that “speak first to the body and soul before speaking to the reason of the one who tastes them”.
This white is immediately inviting with its pale golden hue. The nose is amazingly complex with spice notes coming through first followed by a floral character; jasmine flowers and even a hint of lavender as it opens up. The complexity continues on the palate, rich and expressive, retaining a fresh character and finesse that underlines a lovely creaminess.
